TashiCell plans nationwide coverage

TashiCell, Bhutan’s second largest cellco by subscribers, intends to achieve nationwide coverage by 2011, according to TeleGeography CommsUpdate.

Earlier this month the company launched its latest network in 12 dzongkhags (districts) of Zhemgang. In October the cellco plans to extend coverage to Trongsa and Bumthang. By next year, it believes it will cover all 20 dzongkhags.

TashiCell was given a subsidy of BTN47 million from the Bhutan Information Communications & Media Authority (BICMA) to help expand its services to the remotest parts of the country.
