HiTS Tanzania prepares Dar es Salaam for launch

Tanzania’s network operator, Excellentcom, trading as HiTS Tanzania, revealed launch plans to offer voice, SMS and data services in 2011, according to TeleGeography CommsUpdate.

The company’s chairman Abdullah Mwinyi said that HiTS Tanzania is in the final stages of its launch phase and hopes to introduce a commercial service with nationwide coverage by early next year.

Meanwhile, Excellentcom CEO David Charles said the newcomer hoped to secure a portion of a market that is set to grow strongly in the next few years. Charles added a number of network infrastructures are in place that encourage synergies and strategic partnerships.
