TT-Netvaerket grabs spectrum

02 July 2012

TT-Netvaerket, the Danish network sharing joint venture between Telia and Telenor, has won 800MHz spectrum, calling it a major step in the build-out of its 4G mobile broadband network, TeleGeography CommsUpdate reported.

The infrastructure sharing venture has paid DKK111.5 million for 2×10MHz in the 800MHz band to complement its existing holdings at 2.6GHz. TT-Netvaerket has deployed a network that covers 75 percent of Denmark’s population in the cities of Copenhagen, Aarhus, Aalborg and Odense; Telia and Telenor offer services separately over the shared infrastructure.

The new 800MHz spectrum will enable the firms to serve a wider area as the lower frequencies offer greater geographic coverage per base station.
