Improved connectivity is Nawras’ goal |
19 April. 2012 |
Nawras, Oman’s second national telecoms operator, plans to focus on improving connectivity around the country this year, to capitalize on the growing demand for data services, The Muscat Daily reported. The operator’s CEO Ross Cormack said that Nawras will build a number of base stations across the Sultanate during the year to boost broadband coverage. “What we are doing is taking advantage of the best technology to provide ever-upgraded services, but the very first thing is to get connectivity to as many people as we can. He added the company covers 57 percent of Oman with its 3G mobile network, as well as 87 percent of households with a home broadband service. Cormack also said Nawras will roll out more services for business customers in 2012. “Most business customers want to have at the very least connectivity which is protected by diversity, meaning a choice of operators where if one does not work then another one does.” |
