Movistar to expand for FTTH service

07 Feb. 2012

Spanish fixed line incumbent Telefonica de Espana, which offers it services under the Movistar banner, plans to enhance and expand its fiber-optic network deployment this year in four cities, ADSL Zone reported.

The telecom outlined its commitment to its fiber rollout, saying it expects to bolster coverage of its fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) services, which cover around 1.5 million households, to more than 2 million, and possibly well beyond.

Barcelona, Madrid and Valencia are three of the four cities in which Movistar expects to carry out the network expansion.
