HiTS eyes African nation

Kuwaiti communications group HiTS Telecom is negotiating with mobile operators in Liberia and Tanzania to share mobile towers and launch nationwide services in both countries before the end of 2012, Reuters reported.

The report indicates that HiTS also is interested in acquiring another African operator.

In total, The Kuwait firm is looking to invest USD140 million in the two countries – including USD100 million in Tanzania.

HiTS CEO  Par Eriksson confirmed the company has four mobile licenses in Africa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, and Liberia and Tanzania.
